September signifies the end of summer and beginning of a hectic fall schedule for most.  Don’t forget to have some fun along the way! There are many fun activities in Daytona Beach and the surrounding areas to fill in any free time you may find yourself with. From dinosaurs, to movie events, to festivals, there is something for everyone!

Jurassic Quest Dinosaur Show

September 1, 2, & 3

Visit the Daytona Beach Ocean Center on September 1st – 3rd, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. to experience the Jurassic Quest Dinosaur Show.  Come see living, breathing, walking dinosaurs, as well as science stations, crafts, face painting, bounce houses and more. This event is open to the public but will require a ticket for entry. Ticket costs range $18 - $34.  Parking will cost $5.  For more information and to purchase your tickets visit the website.

Dive-In Movie

September 1

Daytona Lagoon in Daytona Beach is hosting their last event of the summer, a Dive-In Move Night! Hang out in the wave pool and enjoying watching “Avengers: Infinity War” on their giant outdoor movie screen.  The movie starts at Sundown, but the fun of the waterpark could last all day.  There will be movie-themed activities as well as food and drink deals for the whole family. Admission is free to season pass holders and just $15.99 after 3:00 p.m. for all others.  For more information visit the park's website.

Island Rum Festival

September 1

Main Street in Daytona Beach is the place to be to kick off Labor Day Weekend!  On Saturday, September 1st, 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., check out the Island Rum Festival. There will be a Pirate Parade, Pirate Village and lots of entertainment, including Sword Fighting, Live Music, Dancers, Festival Foods and of course plenty of Rum. Fireworks will take place at 9:15 p.m. Admission to the festival is free.  There will also be a pub crawl, which tickets are required for. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Dinner, Art & A Movie

September 7

This event is hosted by the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and the City’s Department of Leisure Services at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum.  It begins at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks set up in the parking lot.  From 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. go inside the museum to do a free art project, and at 7:45 p.m. there will be a free movie at The Casements.  The movie will be “A Wrinkle In Time”.  For more information visit the Facebook page.

Riverwalk Park Drive-In Movie

September 7

Enjoy a night of family fun at the Riverwalk Park in Port Orange.  The Port Orange Parks & Recreation is hosting a Drive-In Movie event that begins at 7:30 p.m.  The movie being shown is “Cars 3” and will start at 8:30 p.m.  There will be free popcorn and other food and drink will be available for purchase.  There will also be a Riverwalk ride on car race so being your ride on electric car or build a cardboard box car and bring it to be entered for a chance to win a 12v Power Wheels.  For more information about this event visit the event page.

17th Annual Halifax Health Hospice 5K Run & Walk

September 8

This 17th Annual 5K Run & Walk takes place on Saturday, September 8th.  It begins and ends at the Port Orange City Center near the Kenneth W. Parker Amphitheater and Lakeside Community Center.  This race is part of the Daytona Running Series and is a great fundraiser with all funds benefiting the Family Caregiver Program.  Competitive runners will be timed for placing and will receive points in the Daytona Running Series, but this event also offers a great opportunity for non-competitive runners and walkers as well as children and families to participate.  For more information and for online registration visit the event page.

Bikers Against Breast Cancer Poker Run

September 16

Bikers Against Breast Cancer is a charity poker run hosted by the Law Firm of Politis & Matovina.  It cruises through Volusia and Flagler Counties on Sunday, September 16th and benefits the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Volusia/Flagler campaign. The ride begins at Froggy’s Saloon on Main Street in Daytona Beach at 9:30 a.m.  Registration is $20 to ride, $10 for a guest, and $10 for an additional poker hand.  The best poker hand receives $250 cash and there are 6 runner up winners.  The first 250 registrants get a goody bag, t-shirt and bandana.  To register visit this web page.

Yappy Hour

September 21

Do wish you could take your four-legged friend out for a night on the town, but find there just aren't many places you can bring your dog? Then you won't want to miss this fun event where you can bring Fido along to enjoy some live music and scarf down some scrumptious food truck fare all to benefit a great cause! This fun event, benefiting Sophies Circle, will also include free wine tasting and $2 beers. And of course... time with your furry friend! Daytona Beach Kite and Sand Art Festival

September 22 & 23

Head out to the beach at the Holiday Inn Resort Daytona Beach Oceanfront on September 22nd & 23rd for the first Daytona Beach Kite and Sand Art Festival.  There will be kite demos, kite professionals to teach you how to fly, a kite decorating station, and 200 free kites each day.  Kite activities begin at 9:00 a.m.  The theme for the Sand Art is “Under The Sea” and it is free to participate at any age.  Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and building begins at 9:00 a.m.  Judging will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and awards will be given at 2:30 p.m.  For more information visit this web page.

Ormond Beach Community Day at JP Cycles

September 29

Ormond Beach Community Day is a fun filled day for the entire family and community being held at JP Cycles at Destination Daytona.  It begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th.  There will be a Bounce House, face painters, balloon clowns, and music all day. You can also enjoy BMX Bike Demos, Motorcycle Police Demos, Seabreeze High School Band Drum Line performances, a Classic Car Show, RV exhibit and local Food and Community vendors.   All donations and proceeds will benefit the Seabreeze High School Band and The Legacy House.  For more information on this event visit the event's Facebook page.

DeLand Bacon & Brew Fest

September 29

Experience the 3rd Annual DeLand Bacon & Brew Fest at Earl Brown Park in DeLand on Saturday, September 29th, 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Plenty of beer for sampling, lots of bacon for eating, and music for your entertainment.  Admission is free, but tickets must be purchased for Brewery Lane Unlimited Sampling, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are $25 in advance, until September 1st, and $35 after that.  Tickets include a Souvenir Sampling Beer Mug.  Cash bars will be open 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.  This event raises money to help support a local charity, “Food Brings Hope”.  For more information visit the event page.
